Fans of Audrey Niffenegger's novel The Time Traveler's Wife were ecstatic to learn that HBO would be making a series based on the book in 2018. It's now one of 2022's most anticipated new TV shows.
Although the story of Henry DeTamble and Clare Anne Abshire had mixed reviews when it was adapted for the big screen, HBO believes that its television drama will gain greater critical acclaim come May. Especially because Emmy-winning filmmaker David Nutter, whose credits include Game of Thrones, and Doctor Who and Sherlock writer Steven Moffat, will be directing the award-winning romance in the series.
When is The Time Traveler's Wife going to be released?
The show's debut trailer (below) was released in April, along with the announcement of its official premiere date: Sunday, May 15. In the United States, The Time Traveler's Wife will air on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, May 15th. The series will launch on Sky Atlantic in the United Kingdom on Monday, May 16.
Because HBO airs most of its episodes at 3.01 a.m. ET (12.01 a.m. PT), the new series is expected to air at the same hour. Since The Time Traveler's Wife is an HBO Original series that will be published on the HBO Max streaming platform, viewers will need an HBO Max membership to watch it.
What's it about?
Leslie will play Clare, a young woman whose life is interspersed with visits from a mysterious man with tales of the future, only to discover that he is not only destined to be the love of her life, but also a time-traveller. Fans of Downton Abbey may recognize her as Ygritte from HBO's mega-hit Game of Thrones.
James (aka, the ill-fated Mr Pamuk who brought so many tribulations to Downton Abbey, not to mention the heart-throb Sidney Parker of Sanditon) will play Henry, a man afflicted with the uncontrollable ability to travel through time as he tries to find a way to the woman he loves across the shifting sea of time in what feels like a perfect overlap for Downton and Outlander fans) will play Henry, a man.
The program's nature demanded a great deal of sophistication from both the production and the actors—the character Leslie ages from 16 to 70 during the course of the show.

In the United States, HBO will broadcast The Time Traveler's Wife live. Those who do not have access to traditional cable can watch the show live using TV streaming services such as Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV.
